The 2014 Christmas walk was held on Monday 29th Dec 2014. Thirty six participants (plus 5 dogs) assembled at the Jolly Ploughboy Pub in Rockbrook. Conditions were excellent with a clear sky and temperature just above freezing. At 11.30 we moved to our starting point in Tibradden Lane at the back of Pine Forrest. The route through the woods took us past the Zipit Adventure Centre. Crossing the Glendoo Road we followed the trail up onto Cruagh Mountain. Near the top we took the “board walk” to the summit. Taking a short break in the woods we moved off again down the mountain. Conditions were a bit slower on the downward trail until we reached the forest road then back to our starting point. The time taken was just short of 3 hours. We all returned to the Jolly Ploughboy for a quick pint before heading home.
Our thanks to Brendan Peavoy and Seamus Green for organising the walk.
