Congratulations to Pawel and Sean SSBC, IMA National Champions 2026.
Swords Sailing and Boating Club (SSBC) hosted the Irish Multihull Association (IMA) National Championships last weekend 12/13 Sep.
Boats travelled from Galway (GBSC), Ballyholme (BYC) to compete with the SSBC fleet for the title of IMA National Champions 2026. After a delayed start due to strong winds from the west on Sat morning Race Officer Siobhán Broaders took to the water with support team at 1pm to assess conditions. The fleet followed at 2pm for what promised to be an exciting showdown on the W/L course, with a spreader at the top and gate at the bottom, with the committee boat positioned to allow for a downwind finish. Four races completed as scheduled in challenging
conditions on the Broadmeadows Estuary.
R1 Day 1, with 8 boats on the water and the wind averaging 17knots the sequence commenced for the first race, with 6 races planned over the two days of the event. SSBC’s Trojanowski/Dorenbusch led from the start and finished in 1st with BYC McNicholl/Billington in 2nd and SSBC Biddulph/Biddulph in 3rd , all on F18’s.
R2 Day 1, the battle continues for top positions with Trojanowski/Dorenbusch taking the win, GBSC Lemonier/Mathieu 2nd on an F18 and SSBC OGorman/OGorman taking 3rd on their H59SX.
R3 Day 1, Trojanowski/Dorenbusch on form take the 1st again followed closely by Biddulph/Biddulph in 2nd and McNicholl/Billington in 3rd. Lemonier/Mathieu not far behind in 4th.
R4 Day 1, Biddulph/Biddulph take their 1st win of the day, Trojanowski/Dorenbusch seconds behind followed by O’Gorman/O’Gorman, all staying in contention for podium positions overnight.
So with Day 1 over it was into the club for race analyses, some well-earned food and refreshments with the competition for the title of IMA National Champion’s 2026 set to continue on Sunday. Overnight leaders following a discard are Trojanowski/Dorenbusch on 3 points, Biddulph/Biddulph on 4 points and McNicholl/Billington on 10 points.
Day 2 and lighter airs forecast at 7knots coming from the east. The RO and team took to the water on time for the 10:55 start.
R1 Day 2, BYC Anderson/Collins taking the 1st on the water but 2nd on SCHRS as followed closely by O’Gorman/O’Gorman on a H59sx. OGorman/OGorman 1st, Anderson/Collins 2nd and Biddulph/Biddulph 3rd. The battle for the title continued.
R2 Day 2 Biddulph/Biddulph taking the 1st on the water but 2nd on SCHRS. O’Gorman/O’Gorman take the 1st, Biddulph/Biddulph 2nd and GBSC Lemonnier/Cronin on their Spitfire in 3rd.

3rd O’Gorman/O’Gorman SSBC 13 pts
