Our 2025 Ladies’ Champtionships were held on Sat 28th June in SSBC.
Saturday 11:30 and the ladies arrived to gusty 14 to 23 knots from the West. With wind scheduled to drop and racing scheduled to commence at 1pm, the RO Declan O’Brien and Commodore Siobhán Broaders opted for a one hour delay until 2pm hoping the wind would settle as forecast. And it did, so at 1:30pm the Race Committee, support boats and competitors launched in Topaz ready to compete for this year’s championship title. With the course laid, directly offshore from the clubhouse providing a great viewing point to watch the races onshore, the 1st race commenced on schedule at 2pm.
Race 1 – all 7 compete for placings in the subsequent group heats to the final.
Heat 1 – first, second and third placed from race 1 were up next. Rosena, Orlaith and Siobhán had a tight race with Rosena taking the 1st and securing her place in the final.
Heat 2 – 4th to 7th placed from race 1 were up next so Gráinne, Anne, Caitríona and Sarah hit the start line with gusts building. Anne took the lead and held to the finish, winning a position in the final.
Heat 3 – the last 5 race with Gráinne, Sarah and Orlaith going through to the final to compete with Rosena and Anne.
Congratulations to this years winner, Rosena Cuddy taking 1st position in the final and this year’s title of SSBC Ladies’ Champion 2025.

Well done to all the ladies and many thanks to all who helped both on and off the water.
